The use of mailing list was very quickly popularized in the world of the open source. It is even advised when you start using systems like Ubuntu to register you on the mailing lists meant for users, to obtain some assistance and to keep up to date (and who knows… can be to help others ; -) ).
However, the mailing list are very talkative, which makes you an important flow of mails and takes space on your mail box. There is another way to use the mailing list. you gotta use NNTP server . For Ubuntu in particular, but much of other mailing lists on the field of the open source, it exists GMane.
